Scholarship Offerings
UCR University Extension Scholarships: University of California Riverside Extension is committed to providing extraordinary learning experiences to students of all ages - regionally, nationally, and internationally. The academic and professional programs offered through UCR University Extension help individuals advance careers, increase opportunities for economic mobility, and explore personal growth. UCR University Extension is pleased to make available scholarship funds to support students in reaching their academic and professional goals. Scholarships are awarded to cover course or program tuition fees.
Two Types of Scholarships: The UCR University Extension Scholarship for Student Success and The Sue Teele Education Extension Award Endowed Fund. There is a limit of one award per scholarship type, per person.
UCR University Extension Scholarship for Student Success: Scholarships can be used to cover the costs of courses in certificate programs that span all academic areas. View eligibility requirements for the Student Success Scholarship.
The Sue Teele Education Extension Award Endowed Fund: Scholarships can be used to cover the costs specific to teachers seeking studies in Education or Credential programs. The Sue Teele Education Extension Award Endowed Fund was established and funded by Sue Teele, Ph.D., in an effort to support the educational goals of teachers in the local community. During her decades-long tenure as Director of UCR University Extension's Education and Credential Programs, Dr. Sue Teele devoted her efforts toward providing the highest-quality educational experiences for classroom teachers. Grant Program Offerings
Golden State Education & Training Grant Program: The California Student Aid Commission has opened up individual student applications for this grant program opportunity. This program is designed to encourage and support individuals who suffered COVID-related job loss to enter, continue and complete college and job training programs. The program was established and funded in the 2021 California Budget Act, mainly with one-time federal COVID recovery dollars, to offer this one-time financial incentive. Half of the funds must go to individuals supporting dependent children.
The Committee on UCR University Extension Scholarships reviews applications for both scholarships quarterly. Scholarship recipients will be notified within four weeks following the quarterly application deadline, if an award will be made for the upcoming quarter.
Typical awards fund course registration fees towards completion of a certificate or program.
Scholarship application deadlines for each quarter:
- Fall: August 15
- Winter: December 1
- Spring: March 1
