Current and Aspiring Entrepreneurs: Unlock Your Potential

Current or aspiring small business owners and entrepreneurs in the City of Coachella have an exciting opportunity to enroll in free, high-quality business management training through a partnership between UCR University Extension, the City of Coachella, and Caravanserai. These comprehensive courses cover essential skills in finance, marketing, human resources, and more. With in-person learning and personalized mentorship, students will gain practical insights that can help impact their business, positioning them for career advancement and contributing to the growth of Coachella’s vibrant economy.

Participants must live, work, or own a business in the City of Coachella to enroll in the program. The program includes courses in:

Business Readiness (offered in English OR Spanish): For small business owners and entrepreneurs looking to build foundational business skills. In this course, students will

• Understand the concepts of entrepreneurship and apply them to a real-world business context.
• Gain a comprehensive understanding of business financial management.
• Learn to use and apply customer discovery and competitive analysis tools.
• Develop a thorough business model and road map for the venture.

Micro MBA: For established business owners or managers looking to hone advanced skills in business management with an eye toward potentially pursuing an MBA in the future. In this course, students will

• Develop a strong foundation in the fundamentals of business.
• Develop and apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and practice teamwork and collaboration, which are essential skills for future managers and entrepreneurs.
• Apply the knowledge of business fundamentals to analyze real-world strategic business situations, and issues that are highly relevant to today’s managers and entrepreneurs.
• Network with individuals and fellow business owners across Coachella.

Business English (offered in Spanish): For Spanish-speaking individuals looking to increase their proficiency in the English language and develop the skills necessary to be effective communicators in a wide range of business scenarios. Business English 1 and 2 are elective courses that can be taken along with the Business Readiness and Micro MBA courses. In this course, students will

• Learn to communicate effectively in various business contexts using correct vocabulary and terminology.
• Develop and advance key communication skills necessary in the business world.
• Expand knowledge of core business principles, challenges, and operations.

Interested participants can attend either of the following free information sessions:

• Wednesday, February 19, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM online via Zoom.
• Tuesday, February 27, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM in-person at the Coachella Branch Library.
