How many units do I need to transfer into a degree program?
You need 60 units to transfer into a degree program at UCR or another UC/CSU.
Are any of UCR’s degree programs offered fully online?
No, UCR does not currently offer any fully online degree programs.
However, we may be able to work out other options, depending on what the situation is with your major. We can find out whether it is possible to take a course at a community college or at another UC. We would work with your major department to see if that is something available for your unique circumstance.
Can I change my major through the Degree Completion Program?
We recommend you meet with one of our Degree Completion advisors, so that we can determine if you are eligible for a change in major.
Please keep in mind that a change in major happens at the discretion of your major advisors and/or college and will depend on various factors specific to your situation.
Are the Degree Completion Advisors my new academic advisors?
No, Degree Completion Advisors are your support advisors. You will need to meet with your academic advisor on campus. We will partner with them to create the best pathway for you and your degree completion.
I studied at UCR years ago, can I still apply?
Absolutely. This initiative is primarily focused on former UC and UCR students.
Do former students qualify for financial aid after being away for four years or more?
There is a common misconception that financial aid only applies for about 4 years, when that is not necessarily the case. Programs can differ in the limits and amounts you can earn as a student.
Depending on where you left off, the UCR Financial Aid office may have different options available. A UCR Financial Aid representative can advise you on what available programs can help you finance your education.
A Degree Completion Advisor can help you communicate with campus to better understand your options.
Can you elaborate on grants for concurrent enrollments?
We have special funds that may be available if you are interested in taking courses through concurrent enrollment or need to take courses through concurrent enrollment.
Please make an appointment with one of our enrollment advisors. They can work with you one-on-one to determine your specific needs.
Is UCR Degree Completion an accelerated program?
No, this is not an accelerated learning program.
Are there different standards for the UCR Degree Completion Program?
There are no different qualifications for how you graduate.
How many credits do I need to graduate?
The number of credits needed to graduate varies by student. We are a support program focused on helping you get back to UCR, and we will help you determine your missing requirements and anything else you need to obtain your degree.
I have completed my associate degree at a community college. Does this affect my ability to participate in the UCR Degree Completion Program?
No. Once you schedule an appointment with your Degree Completion Advisor, we can look at your previous coursework as well as your pathway to complete your degree. Also, having an associate degree does not bar you from receiving financial aid.
When I enroll in the UCR Degree Completion Program, do I have to be a full-time student?
If you do not wish to return full time, there is a part-time waiver that you will need to complete to be considered for less than 10 units. In addition, your financial aid will be impacted.
Does being a part-time student impact my financial aid?
Yes, being part time will impact your financial aid award. A UCR Financial Aid representative can help you determine whether you are able to receive full or partial funds. They will also help you determine alternative options for financing your education.
Do I need to meet with the Degree Completion Advisor in-person?
