About the Course

Social Science encompasses academic disciplines that analyze the interaction of people with a society. Applying social science theory to classroom practice requires instructors to demonstrate the ability to teach state-adopted content standards in History/Social Science while enabling students to learn and use analytic thinking skills aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Focus on the application of instructional strategies for teachers of the social sciences at the middle and high school levels. Address organization of courses, sources of materials, textbooks, and methods of teaching the social sciences, with an emphasis on adapting curriculum and instruction to meet the literacy goals of Common Core.
