About the Course

During the second course in Cannabis Law & Policy, learners self-select for a disciplinary focus in agriculture, entrepreneurial, or healthcare law and policy. The sequence moves through employment and labor law; consumer law regarding advertising, labeling, and packaging; real estate law (licensure, security and leases, option agreements, bank financing, forms);environment law (statutory and categorical exemptions, ministerial projects, right to use, environmental regulation); intellectual property (patents, trade secrets, Licensing IP Rights, Federal Trademarks). The final three weeks is modeled on a self-paced internship, during which all learners develop a policy statement, write a case study analysis, interview an expert in the field, and complete a strategic plan.
