About the Course
A beginning practice class in Iyengar yoga that offers instruction in basic yoga postures/poses (asanas) according to the Iyengar method, and includes classical Sanskrit terms and meaning for each pose, variations and adaptations of poses, and the benefits of each group of poses. Designed for the general yoga practitioner interested in developing their knowledge, beginning a yoga practice, and understanding the basic concepts of yoga. You will learn to perform basic yoga poses; understand basic Yoga concepts and Sanskrit names and translation of poses; understand the physical and mental health benefits of each group of poses; and begin an independent yoga practice. Will also help prepare those who wish to take Iyengar Yoga I (AST X401).
