Create a High Growth, Technology-based Startup
Expedite the industry’s transition to next generation agricultural methods to help alleviate food insecurity, mitigate effects of climate change, and spur growth of an innovation ecosystem in Inland Southern California. Spanning the disciplines of business, science, and engineering, this program seeks to deliver sought-after skills that are normally only gained after years into a career, and uniquely prepare you to enter the workforce as an entrepreneur with a broad knowledge of modern agricultural solutions.

- How to become an entrepreneur promoting technologies based around smart agriculture
- Work with mentors to develop plans for your own startup company
- Entry to a pitch competition for a chance to win up to $20,000 to start your own business
- Develop a network of peers and collaborators to advance your career
- Entrepreneurs or individuals thinking of starting a business in the agriculture industry
Individuals
- Must be over 17 years of age, with a good command of the English language
- Should be familiar with basic science fundamentals (math, biology & chemistry)
- Must be based in the United States, and attend in-class sessions at the University of California, Riverside and nearby laboratories
- Submit application online; only applications submitted through the application website will be accepted - no exceptions!
- Additional information can be submitted if required

- Basics of Plant Biology and Physiology: Fundamentals of Plant Growth and Propagation (1 unit)
- Fundamentals of Controlled Environmental Agriculture (1 unit)
Part 2 – Main Program
- Advanced Controlled Environment Agriculture: Design and Laboratory Demonstration Project (3 units)
- Tissue Culture Methods for the Clonal Propagation and Genetic Improvement of Cultivated Plants (3 units)
- Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Transportation, Agriculture and Clean Technology Innovations (1 unit)
