  • Agricultural history in California and the US and differences in small and large farming operations
  • Challenges and job opportunities in the industry
  • Soil maintenance and best practices, such as fertility, plant nutrient requirements, and use of organic and conventional fertilizers
  • Seed-starting techniques for different types of plants and how to adjust for seasonal changes and pest and weed management
  • Methods for cultivation, greenhouse management, processing, packaging, and regulations
  • Principles of agribusiness management, such as planning, labor, permits, laws, budgeting accounting, and more
