GIS applications benefit nearly every field, and the uses are endless. No matter how it’s used, GIS has a profound influence on the way business is done today. By sharing data that are easily visualized and understood, GIS continues to provide public and private decision makers, as well as citizens, with an efficient way to answer questions and solve problems. Knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) and its many software tools and packages are ever evolving and now include the web, crowd-sourcing, social media, and access to Big Data and other data sources, which is opening up even more powerful ways to share information. Instructor Spotlight

“I carried out my first GIS project while I was in high school in Ghana, plotting all government schools using ArcView GIS. I love teaching and sharing my knowledge in GIS with others. My students will go back to their jobs, or start a new one, with a new skill set and renewed minds as it relates to spatial thinking.”
