ESL Low Beginning

This is a lower beginning level English class in which you will develop basic reading, writing, speaking, listening, and grammar skills. You will practice English skills and language to complete everyday tasks. Practice skills like:

  • giving introductions and greetings
  • asking for and giving personal information
  • describing places
  • shopping

Course topics may include jobs, school, family, entertainment, exercise, and free-time activities.  You will also read basic texts, work on projects, and give short presentations.

Derek Houck, M.A., School for International Training, Brattleboro, Vermont, has extensive experience in English language education and teacher training. He has taught students and trained teachers in Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Morocco, Myanmar, and Spain. For the past ten years, he has specialized in teaching advanced subject levels and business English.
